Saging your house: What is it and why is it beneficial when moving house

At Benson Bunch we often meet or work with clients who have their own businesses relating to the property industry, ranging from interior designers to furniture suppliers and handymen, to now a client with their own saging and manifesting business.

Through our client we learned about saging, a ritualistic way to cleanse a place of negative energy or influences, also known as smudging. It originates from Native America and it is a process in which you light sage at a 45 degree angle, let it burn for around 15 seconds and then gently blow it out so the smoke comes free. The idea is that the smoke attaches itself to negative energy and as the smoke clears it takes the negative energy away.

A good time to sage a house is actually when you move into a new home or office as you can clear the energy from the previous owner and set your own intentions for the space. Although there is not really a rule on how often you can sage a space, some people like to clear the energy monthly, seasonally or whilst meditating.

If you are interested in smudging your property- its best to begin at the front door, as the unwanted energy you are trying to clear needs a pathway to get out. Our client has different products but one of them is the Manifest Me Sage Smudge Kit, which comes with 3 bundles of white California sage smudge sticks, a blue abalone shell, white sand and a turkey feather. When you are ready to cleanse your property or space, you light the sage, and place some sand in the shell which helps with burning the sage. You then place the sage in the shell and begin your process walking around the space you choose, fanning the smoke with the Turkey feather around the room, getting rid of all the negative energy and bringing in only good positive energy.
